Town MšenoHistoryYear 1306 refers to Mšeno as to a village (or a dorp); the oldest part of the town being a former stronghold overlooking pond Blížka. In 1367 the village rises to the status of town. The 16th century is signified by a prosperous development of crafts industry and market sphere. Until 1786 Mšeno holds a warrant to execute (the once gallows was located on the "Gallows Hill", 2 kilometers south off town). In the course of the Thirty Years' war Mšeno suffers intensely from plunderings and looting raids carried out by the Swedes and Saxons. 1804 is marked by founding of one of the first established amateur theatricals, which was putting productions in Czech. Numerous fires scourge the town on frequent basis; the greatest of all in 1867 destroys 54 houses, including the town hall, church and parsonage. Towards the end of the 19th century Mšeno harbors 180 commercially licensed trades, which are to a great degree engaged in the boom of cultural events and establishing clubs (fraternities) and associations. Hitler's territorial claims following the Munich Agreement of 29th September 1938 render Mšeno into a border town, neighboring with Sudeten Land. Towards the close of the WWII a partisan company 'Národní Mstitel' (Patriotic Avenger) operates in the surrounding area. The following services are available in town - post office, police station, pharmacy, medical center (GP, pediatrician, gynecologist, dentist), elementary school, nursery school and a home for retired citizens. To reach our town, you can come by bus, train, or by main and B-roads. The town Mšeno is a municipality of II. degree (i.e. local municipality authorized to partially administer public administration). The executive district of administration covers the following municipalities: Chorušice, Kadlín, Kanina, Lobeč, Mšeno, Nosálov, Stránka.
